MARCH 2025
Our Community Cares

For our unit to continue excelling, we rely on the generous support of our families and community. Through year-round fundraising efforts, we provide our cadets with valuable experiences, opportunities, and scholarships to help them succeed at Nease and in their transition to college.

We are grateful to be part of a community that values our program and invests in our cadets. It was an honor to welcome Sarah McLevy and Clyde Slick, members of our local Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), to our spring promotions ceremony. After addressing our cadets, they presented our unit with a generous $4,000 scholarship.

Since 1929, MOAA’s mission has been to protect the benefits of all servicemembers. We are humbled and honored to accept their support and deeply appreciate their commitment to our cadets.

Gunny Goodbyes

Thank you to those who have sent in memories for Gunny's upcoming retirement party! Please continue to send any photos, video messages, or notes of appreciation to gunnygoodbyes@gmail.com by May 4.

SAVE THE DATE! We will be celebrating Gunny's retirement on Saturday, May 10 at Nease! More details about the party will be shared soon.

ORIENTEERING NATIONALS

Our Orienteering Team is headed to Nationals March 13-16 at Oak Mountain State Park in Pelham, Alabama.

We would still appreciate snack and drink donations to send with the cadets for their long bus ride! Please donate HERE.

We want to send these hard working cadets off properly, so please help us line Ray Road with well wishes on Thursday morning, March 13th. The bus will leave at 8:00am, so plan your arrival accordingly to cheer them on as they depart!

Good luck, cadets! We are eagerly waiting to report on all of your success!

Right-Hand Man Breakfast

The Right-Hand Man Breakfast is coming up! This event is a tradition within our unit where NS-Ups celebrate younger cadets that have shown outstanding performance, commitment, a positive attitude, or otherwise exemplified what it means to be a Nease Cadet this year. It is an invite-only breakfast where invitees are selected by their peers to enjoy a meal and be recognized for their hard work.

We need donations to help make this recognition breakfast a success! Please donate your time to help serve or breakfast items HERE! Thank you for your continued support!

CPO Meeting

Our next monthly CPO meeting will be held Thursday, March 27th, at 7:45 a.m. in portable 40 at Nease. To attend, you must register by noon the day before the meeting and be cleared by SJCSD to be on campus. Register HERE to be included in the meeting.

Air Rifle STS Junior Olympic Championship

Our Nease Air Rifle Precision and A Teams went to Central High School in Brooksville for the STS Junior Olympic Championship on March 1st. It was a long but fun day, and the cadets performed exceptionally. This was the cadets last competition for the school year.

Additionally, this competition was the last air rifle event to be coached by Gunny Hanson, as he prepares for his retirement. Air Rifle at Nease owes much of its success to Gunny’s guidance, skill, and expertise. We are incredibly grateful for all he has done, and he will be deeply missed.

Congratulations to the entire Nease Air Rifle Team on their impressive year!

Area 10 Brain Brawl Regionals

On March 1st, the Nease Brain Brawl teams traveled to Cairo, Georgia, to compete in the Area 10 Regional Brain Brawl Championship. Our Nease B Team had an impressive showing, placing 4th overall. Next stop: Brain Brawl Nationals in Annapolis, Maryland at the Naval Academy!

Our Nease Drone Team competed on February 28th at the Area 10 Drone Regionals in Cairo, GA. Our A team placed FIRST OVERALL making them Area 10 Drone Champions! We also had a team place 3rd in this competition. Congratulations to these cadets on their hard work this year!

TPC Volunteers Needed

We are still in need of cadet and adult volunteers for The Players Championship (TPC). There are various time slots available on the dates of the tournament (March 11-16). This is a lucrative fundraiser for our unit and an easy way to help support! Plus, you get into the tournament free of charge after your shift!
