The competition season is officially underway! Our competitive teams have been working hard since the start of the school year, putting in early mornings, extra practices, and countless hours of preparation. Now, they are ready to put that hard work to the test.
Our Air Rifle Team was the first to compete, kicking off the season on September 19 with an impressive showing.
Sporter A - 1st Overall
Cadets Hamburger, Wells, McKeown, and Pitches represented Nease, with Cadet Hamburger earning 1st Overall Individual and Top Shooter for Nease A.
Precision - 3rd Overall
Cadets Kane, Peasley, Green, and Froehlich competed for Nease, with Cadet Kane finishing 9th Overall Individual and earning Top Shooter for Nease.
Our Sporter B team was made up of Cadets Pedreiro, Stratton, Valentine, and Fortuna, with Cadet Pedreiro earning Top Shooter for Nease B.
Congratulations to all of our Air Rifle cadets on an outstanding first match! Their next competition will be Saturday, October 10, in Gainesville.
The rest of our competitive teams are gearing up for their first competitions as well. Our Orienteering Team and Brain Brawl Team will both compete on October 17, with Orienteering heading to Dunns Creek and Brain Brawl traveling to Gaither High School in Tampa. Our Orienteering cadets will put their navigation and endurance skills to the test, while our Brain Brawl teams will compete to see who can come out on top.
Our Drill Team will have their first opportunity to compete on October 24 at Terry Parker High School. The team has been working hard each morning before school, preparing for what promises to be an exciting season. We can't wait to see them put all of that hard work into action!
Our CyberPatriot Teams are also getting ready to begin their season. They will participate in a training round on October 4, followed by a practice round on October 18 and their first competitive round on October 25. We are incredibly grateful to The Link for sponsoring our CyberPatriot teams and providing them with a space to practice and compete.
Supporting Our Teams
Behind every successful competitive team is a tremendous amount of support from our cadets, instructors, and parents. Throughout the season, we will have supply and snack sign-ups for competitions. Every contribution, big or small, helps our teams have what they need on competition days.
Competition season also comes with significant expenses, particularly when our cadets travel and overnight stays are required. We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of our CPO families and everyone who participates in fundraising throughout the year. These efforts help offset the out-of-pocket expenses associated with competition travel and allow our cadets to take advantage of these valuable opportunities.
We are also fortunate to have parents who have stepped up to serve as Team Parents. These volunteers help coordinate parent communication, assist with competition-day needs, and serve as a point of contact for parents when needed. Cadets remain the primary source for the most up-to-date team information, but Team Parents will communicate important details and help families navigate meet days.

A huge thank you to all of our Team Parents and to every parent who volunteers, donates, fundraises, or simply shows up to support our cadets. It truly takes a team both on and off the competition floor.
