Welcome back, students and parents! We are excited for another productive year in our unit. A special welcome to our new NS1 cadets and families.
As you may have gathered, our unit is busy with many events and activities going on. Your cadet is your best resource for information, but we hope this newsletter will keep everyone informed on major events.
As a reminder, every cadet is responsible for 20 hours of community service per year as a requirement for NJROTC. Fifteen hours are set up by the unit serving the community at various events, and 5 are in-unit hours. These in-unit hours are satisfied by things that happen within the fence line of Nease (football games, flag, events in the auditorium, etc). BCT counts for unit hours if your cadet worked as a cadre this year. All 20 required hours will count toward your cadet's Bright Futures requirement. Our upcoming Nease-hosted Drill Meet coming up November 2 is a great way to knock these hours out!
Cadets can find volunteer opportunities on our webpage and we are still in need of parent chaperones for many events. Look HERE.
If your cadet volunteers for an event not organized by the unit, those hours will not count toward the 20 but will count towards Bright Futures.
All volunteer hours are logged in our website and your cadet can get a printout of their service hours to be signed by an instructor. Cadets are encouraged to keep their own logs to verify.
Let's have a great year!
